Autumn Beashore - Math

Mrs. Autumn Beashore
Hello My Name Is...

Autumn Beashore

Welcome to 6th grade math. This is my second year in the Spring Hill School District, but I am coming with many years of experience.

I’m very excited for the 2020-2021 school year.
Students will learn new math skills, challenge themselves, and work collaboratively with their peers.  Spiral review will also be part of our class to keep skills fresh in their mind (weekly homework assignment).

This year will look a little differently than the past, but we will do as much of problem solving, hands on activities, and projects that we can do while in person. We will be using the flipped classroom which allows each student to learn at their own pace.  Mini lessons will also be done in class before students practice with their peers.  Students will take quizzes over our essential standards and we will also have unit tests.

This will be a rollercoaster year, so we are all going to have to be flexible and have patience with each other.  If your child is looking for information, almost everything can be found in their math google classroom.  The zoom calls are posted on the stream and I have also made an announcement on what they need to do if/when they are absent from class on the stream.  Under the classwork tab, I post daily agendas where they can access their videos (homework) and also see what we are doing that day.  Any work they do for points during class is posted under the in class tab.  I also have a challenge/problem solving section that students can do if/when they have free time or want more of a challenge.

Genius hour is where students can push themselves.  They will choose a topic of their choice that they want to learn more about.  They will create some sort of a presentation to show us what they learned.  Vocabulary, prior knowledge, steps to solve the concept, a walk-through of one problem and then 2 sample problems with solutions will be provided.

I am super excited to meet and work with each student. I can’t wait to see students succeed and also have a positive attitude about math.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
