Ryan Bechtel - Science

Hello My Name Is...

Ryan Bechtel

Welcome to 6th Grade Science. I am very excited to be working at Woodland Spring Middle School. This will be the start of my twentieth year in the Spring Hill School District. I truly enjoy the community and the small town values that the people of Spring Hill hold.

My son is a 6th grader at Woodland Spring Middle School. Some of my hobbies include woodworking, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, running, cycling, and being an audiophile. I graduated from Kansas State University in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science degree in K-9 Education. In 2008 I graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University with a Masters degree in Education. My passion is to teach science in a fun, safe environment that will engage all types of learning styles.

In Sixth Grade Science students explore the planet Earth and its place in the Universe. Students learn about the make-up of the Earth, including the composition of the interior and the atmosphere. During the year, students study natural Earth processes, explore and monitor weather, investigate human impact on the environment and will develop an understanding of the relationship between the Sun, Earth, and Moon. Students will also practice the Scientific Method making observations, taking accurate measurements, using the metric system, recording data and work on developing problem solving skills necessary for higher grade levels.
